Here are a few common questions my clients have regarding my photography services, along with my responses.

You have questions, I have answers.

For your convenience, the following are some questions that I frequently receive from interested clients and my responses. If you have a question that isn’t addressed here, by all means, let me know.

General

  • No, I will not deliver raw, unedited images to my clients. Editing is the key final step to my finished product, and results in the hallmark look that is my signature. As such, I will not make unedited images available to clients under any circumstances.

  • Editing each of the photos that I take to perfection is a timely, and therefore costly, endeavour. And while I may take hundreds of quality photos during your session, they may not all be meaningful photographs in your eyes. Rather, I use photo proofing. What is proofing? Not long after our session, I first deliver to you a gallery of unedited, watermarked versions of your photos, called proofs. From your proofs, you select and submit your favourites, and these are the photos that I will meticulously edit and deliver to you as your final product. Your chosen photography session or bundle will specify the number of images included, and you can always inquire into pricing for additional selections. With proofing, you ensure that your hard-earned investment is dedicated to the images that are most meaningful to you.

  • I feel passionately that you should print your most cherished photographs and display them proudly in your favourite spaces. While you won’t find printed photographs included in the pricing of most of my photography offerings, I certainly do encourage you to order prints of your favourite photographs with me, as your professional photographs are deserving of better than consumer print treatment. Ordering prints directly from your online gallery is as easy as could be, and I have partnered with the folks at WHCC to provide you with the very best printed products. More information, view my Prints page.

Wedding Photography

  • I have been photographing weddings professionally for more than twelve years now. In that time, I have had the privilege of immortalizing more than 150 happy days through photography.

  • A non-refundable retainer of 20% of the wedding bundle price is required immediately in order to confirm my services for your wedding date. The balance is divided into two equal portions of 40%, the first of which is due 90 days before your wedding date, and the second due 7 days before your wedding date.

  • While timing can be variable based on a number of factors, generally, here is what you can expect.

First, you will receive a sneak peek gallery featuring a generous selection of my choosing from your wedding photographs within 1-2 weeks of your wedding day, guaranteed. Next, I will send another gallery containing all of your wedding photo proofs, generally somewhere around 4-6 weeks after your wedding day. Finally, once I have received your proof selections, I will share your final, masterfully-edited wedding photo gallery with you in 2-4 weeks after receiving your proof selections.

In summary, with your timely cooperation, you will receive your final wedding gallery no later than 12 weeks after your wedding day – guaranteed. And if there are any significant variations from this timeline, I will keep you well-informed along the way.

  • Wedding videography is, while closely related, a rather different discipline than photography, and I have chosen to focus only on photography. I am, however, part of a close network of local photographers and videographers in Edmonton, and I can refer you to some videographers that are masters of their craft and who are available on your wedding date. Your business relationship with them would be entirely separate from ours, though we will communicate and coordinate with each other leading up to and on your wedding day to ensure that your experience with us both is as smooth as could be.

  • There are just so many benefits with having a second photographer. During getting ready, it allows each photographer to be with the bride and groom simultaneously so none of those priceless candid getting ready moments get missed. Even when the bride and groom are getting ready at the same location, inevitably, memorable moments are occurring with both the bride and groom at the same time. Furthermore, during the ceremony, two photographers allows photos simultaneously from multiple angles of arriving guests, the processional, the ceremony, the first kiss, the recessional, and more. Additionally, a ceremony happens relatively quickly, and there are a lot of important moments, so having two photographers means not a single one of those moments will be missed. Next, during formal photos, two photographers makes much more efficient use of what is sometimes a limited amount of formal photo time. After focusing on the full wedding party, the second photographer and I split up the men and the women and take photos simultaneously. This really makes excellent use of the time and means you can get more photos in a shorter period of time. After the rest of the bridal party is dismissed so that I can focus on the couple, my second photographer usually heads to the reception venue to take detail photos of the place-settings, decorations, and arriving guests. Otherwise, there may not be enough time when I arrive at the reception to photograph all those beautiful details before your cocktails guests start getting comfortable with them and moving them about. Overall, a second photographer is priceless, and personally, were I getting married, I wouldn't have it any other way.

  • While that is ultimately your decision to make, I highly encourage the engagement session. One thing that a lot of couples don’t realize about it is that it’s not only so you have lovely photos to share on Facebook and Instagram or to show as decor at your reception. Even more importantly, prior to the wedding day, it's a chance for us to get familiar with each other, and for you to get used to me having my camera in your faces, and for me to learn your chemistry together and to study your angles in the resulting photos to see what absolutely works best for you both. Not having your wedding day be the first time we’ve photographed together allows me to produce the most exceptional photos on your wedding day. Not that I won’t take great wedding day photos if we don’t do engagement photos. But your wedding photos really will be that much better if we do!
